The Actors is a community focused pub and theatre, overlooking the Royal Pavilion, in the centre of Brighton. We welcome all through our doors and continue to operate as a safe space for the LGBTQAI+ communities and communities from the global majority, showcasing their Art and Culture.

NO SWAP! >:( ONLY TAKE!! Need a new wardrobe? For free?? Come along between 12:30-17:00 on November 16th for a brand spanking new wardrobe for absolutely no cost. Q: for free? No money whatsoever? A: absolutely, 100% free! All the stock comes from 3 years worth of lost property and leftover stock from previous clothes swaps. Cash donations are welcome, but not mandatory! Q: I feel bad not paying, can I bring clothes I don’t want in exchange? A: PLEASE GOD NO! We have SO MANY CLOTHES!! This whole event is an attempt to clear out our cellar and still give back to the community! Q: Is it accessible for wheelchairs? A: This event is held in our side bar, so it’s accessible for those who struggle with stairs or use chairs. However, please be aware due to the width of the doorways we’ve had users of Electric Wheelchairs specifically struggle to fit though the doorways, please keep this in mind when visiting the premises. Q: Will any of the clothes fit me/my style? A: we can’t make promises regarding inclusivity of size in the stock, because everything is secondhand, but we do have a large selection of plus sized and masc clothing. Q: I lost something at the pub a couple weeks ago, will it be given away? A: No way Jose! We keep all lost property for a minimum of 6 months. Come get involved in our low pressure, ‼️ free ‼️ Afro Hair Care space • Hair product swap! Bring the products you bought, used once, and realised it didn’t work for your hair type, extra packs of braiding hair, weave, wigs, durags, bonnets. • Skillshare! Know a thing or two about Black hair? Trying to learn more? This will be an open space for you to have discussions, teach and learn, and connect with people in the community. • Space to try! Have you been wanting to try to get to grips with canerows? Want to figure out some headscarf wrapping styles? We’ll be meeting around 1pm, and there’s an abundance of space and time to give something new a try. • This event centres people from the Black diaspora, and all of the different hair styles and hair types within our communities. This Black History Month, we recognise that we are so often separated from our community knowledge, skills and traditions, and that it’s a radical act to remember. There’s no shame in not knowing, and there’s power in teaching and learning together.
